Bayern star Alphonso Davies suffered a serious injury while playing for the Canadian national team.
The lightning-fast left-back suffered a cruciate ligament transport on Sunday during the Nations League match of his Canadian national team against the US (2: 1).
After Davies had been replaced after just twelve minutes of play, his Canadian assistant coach Mauro Biello (52) initially gave it all clear and said: “I don't have the entire medical report; they are still investigating him. I think it was a blow. He didn't feel something and did not want to risk it at the time.”
Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen (56) also recently told T-Online: “The break of March is a big challenge for the clubs, which must be said very clearly. Fortunately, Alphonso Davies got the all kinds.”
In the past hours, however, the number 19 of Munich has undergone a thorough investigation in Munich. The end result is the horrible diagnosis of a torn cruciate ligament and an expected sidelines of about six months!
The current season, in which Bayern still has title chances in the Bundesliga, the Champions League and the Club World Cup, is therefore over for Davies.
The first alternative to Davies is probably Hiroki Ito (25). With Raphael Guerreiro (31) and Josip Stanisic (24), coach Vincent Kompany (38) also has two other options for the left side of the defense.
However, because none of them can replace the attacking power and speed of Davies, his absence is still a heavy blow to Bayern.
