13 footballers with unusual hobbies: Piranha, bingo, fencing, chess & more

Some football players have hobbies that you would not necessarily expect – including former players of Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool and a current Premier League star.

Although most footballers tend to play golf or fifa, there are one or two that have been rather inventive when they are looking for things to get rid of the field.

Here are some of the more surprising and interesting …

The week before he scored the winner in the FA Cup final of 2025, Eze exchanged his boots for bishops and called to victory in a four-day online chess tournament, which dropped £ 15k.

According to athletics, his playing style is determined by tight pawn structures, well-timed forks and calculated sacrifices-not a million miles away from his playing style on a football field.

The Crystal Palace and England -Man have a solid 1,143 rating -not entirely grandmaster -level, but far beyond casual.

He was even depicted playing with Richard Branson. British football makes steps away from his anti-intellectualism.

We don't know for sure if this is a real hobbie or not, but Tuanzebe became a world record holder on the pre-seasle journey from Manchester United to the US in July 2018 and certainly not for a reason you would expect.

“We had a great day that rated a series of record attempts with the Manchester United football team as part of their collaboration with Guinness World Records,” said referee Adam Brown.

“Axel Tuanzebe, was the larger winner of the day and took the record for the fastest time to erase a game of hungry hippos in a time of 17.36 seconds, with the competition of his fellow teammates defeating.”

“Playing bingo can be very exciting,” said Ronaldo in an interview in 2016.

Apparently his love for the game started when he moved to Manchester United and it helped him to teach English. A strange indeed.

“Many athletes have other interests. Some of my teammates play at 12.30 am at 12.30 pm,” Robson-Kanu told The Independent.

But the former Wales striker was slightly different. After completing the training, he went to London to work in his office until 9 p.m. as a blockchain entrepreneur.

“Blockchain is actually a distributive ledger, where no familiar intermediary is needed.

“So imagine it as an internet, but an internet where you can exchange value peer-to-peer. We now have the internet, but I could not send someone £ 10 without requiring an intermediary,

.

“But with blockchain it allows you to communicate, to handle each other in a digital world peer-to-peer. That is as simplistic as I can give it. That is what blockchain is.”

Simple.

In Liverpool all appeared on the cover of the magazine Chicken & Egg and he and his wife revealed.

The moment he revealed that he had chickens called Bruce, Rodney, Meg, Been, Silkie Steve, Kate, Silkie Steve Junior, Giblets, Snowy, Nugget, Kiev, Dora, Holly, Shine and Chickaletta. Incredible.

And yes, Chicken & Egg is actually a real magazine. What a world.

“When we played the big clubs such as Arsenal of Manchester United, I made a cake based on cookies with bananas and a dusting of green tea.

“If we played against more rugged teams such as Blackburn Rovers, I would make something a lot heavier, such as Carrot Cake with nuts.”

We just go behind that.

Barcelona legend Xavi is interested in mycology or mushroom hunting. It is even known that he is taking friends, including Gerard Pique and Shakira.

“Someone who chooses mushrooms cannot be a bad guy,” said Pep Guardiola. I'm not sure where the link is, but Pep said it is going.

The former midfielder of Leicester started his collection of South American red Piranha more than 20 years ago.

“They certainly make the nutrition time interesting,” he said.

Arshavin studied fashion design at the university in Saint Petersburg. The former Arsenal -Man started studying chemical technology, but switched to sewing by the number of women on the course.

He owned his own women's model line, which was quite successful in Russia.

A quick scroll through his YouTube channel shows videos of drumming to various artists, including Nirvana and Foo Fighters.

He claimed that playing the drums helps him to be a better keeper: “Hand-eye coordination and independence on each of the limbs is useful.”

Batistuta not only played equestrian sport for pleasure, lifted the Copa Stella Artois from 2009 with the Tom Tailor team.

“I went down as if I was throwing myself in the Roma area,” the Fiorentina legend joked after a nasty fall.

Making friends with Will Smith and Tom Cruise is only a small part of the extremely cool life of Becks, but going to the cruise household is just a different level.

“This is his (cruise) way to come together and bind,” said Smith. “David and I go to his house and just do screens.”

Scientology is weird.

No stranger to the extreme, we have previously traced Agger to Marbella, where he led a website for sharing tattoo and a sewerage company.

In addition to the website, Agger is also a very skilled tattoo artist and has tattooed famous 'Ynwa' on his knuckles.
