16 y/o starlet gives Shamrock Rovers a famous win & break Lukaku record in UECL

Shamrock Rovers caused a shock victory in the first stage of their Europa Conference League play-off tie against Molde thanks to a goal of a 16-year-old debutant.

The Irish outfit scored the only goal of the game when teenager Michael Noonan tapped home after their Norwegian opponents gave the ball away cheaply for defense.

By coming to the score sheet, Noonan became the youngest player who scored in the UEFA Club competition, and this at the age of 16 and 197 days old.

This defeats the previous record of Napoli Striker Romelu Lukaku, who did at the age of 16 and 218 when he was put against Ajax for different sides in 2009.

The aim of Noonan ensured that his team had a precious lead to take them back to Dublin for the return bone, which takes place for a week on Thursday.

Elsewhere, the young person played an essential part when he was hacked by Valdemar Lund when he was through the goal, which reduced Molde to 10 men.

With the Norwegian side a man short, robbers pressed an opening, which came when Mats Dahli gave possession into his own box.

Dylan Watts then celebrated the ball for Noonan to tap home and send the 200 traveling supporters to Extase.

Shamrock qualified for a play -off place after completing the first competition phase in 10th place – thanks to victories over the new saints, Borac and Larne.

Their victory comes with the 2025 League of Ireland, which starts on Friday, with Rovers' first game that saw them travel to Cross-City Rivals Boheemians on Sunday.

Shamrock will record the title of the current champions Shelbourne, which Rovers put in their search to win a fifth consecutive championship last season.
