The quarterfinals of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 are officially set – and Real Madrid are thick. After beating Juventus, the ruling European champions will again be against each other with Borussia Dortmund in a rematch of the UEFA Champions League final of 2024. The other half of the bracket has a more surprising set of storylines. Fluminense surprised Inter Milan with a 1-0 win, while Saudi side already Hilal won a dramatic 4-3 victory over Manchester City. These results have set up a quarter -final collision between the Brazilian and Saudi clubs – an unexpected but intriguing battle.
Champions League Heavyweights meet
The first two quarter -final matchups were locked up on Sunday. PSG drove past Inter Miami to take their ticket to the next round, where they are confronted with Bayern Munich in one of the most expected ties of the tournament. The German giants reached the quarters with a 4-2 victory over Flamengo and will now again compete against the Parisians, who barely defeated them 1-0 in a Champions League competition phase meeting last season.
South America in the hope of Premier League upset
Meanwhile, Palmeiras came to the top of an All-Brazilian confrontation against Botafogo, where Paulinho scored the game winner in extra time. That earned them a quarter -final date with Chelsea, who played Benfica in a marathon competition that lasted more than five hours. The victory is making a compelling collision between Palmeiras star Estevão and the London Club, who recently secured his future transfer.
The stage is now set for an exciting set of quarterfinals -and a potentially collision course between Europe's elite and the emerging forces from South -America and the East.
