21 superstars who watched Liverpool demolish Real Madrid from directors’ box

Liverpool put on a spectacle on Wednesday night by beating Real Madrid 2-0 at Anfield – and there was no shortage of superstars watching from the director's box.

Arne Slot's side turned on the style to comfortably beat the 15-time Champions League winners thanks to goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo.

And just as the stars were on the pitch for Liverpool to help them secure a famous win, so too were they in the stands as a host of famous faces arrived at Anfield to watch the match.

Most notable among the Liverpool fans was a selection of club legends such as Lucas Leiva, Sami Hyypia and Martin Skrtel watching together, while legendary former boss Rafa Benitez was also in attendance.

Liverpool icons from the previous era were also in attendance as Sir Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush, Phil Thompson and Jan Molby looked on.

From the Real Madrid contingent, former Los Blancos stars Michael Laudrup, Roberto Carlos and Emilio Butragueno were also spotted at Anfield.

Former Madrid star Gareth Bale held a punditry position alongside another long-time Real Madrid alumni in Steve McManaman, who worked alongside Rio Ferdinand. Ex-Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, meanwhile, provided commentary.

There were also appearances from Arsenal legend Freddie Ljungberg and ex-Fulham defender Brede Hangeland, who worked as experts on the game for another TV channel.

Complementing the footballers in attendance, Sunderland star Jobe Bellingham was in the stands to cheer on his brother Jude before watching him succumb to defeat.

The biggest star outside of football was undoubtedly the appearance of tennis legend Rafael Nadal, the Spaniard who is a well-known Real Madrid fan.

He was joined by actors Michael Myers – known for his portrayal of Austin Powers – and Damian Lewis, who stars in the hit TV show Billions.
