There has been a lot of interest in Liverpool -star Mohamed Salah, but the Egyptian international has put speculation in bed by putting pen on paper for a new deal
Liverpool, Mohamed Salah, has put Pen on paper on a contract extension to give his club a huge boost that has been going on in the last few weeks of the Premier League season. However, there was a time when it seemed as if he was on the way.
The top scorer of the competition could raise a decade in Anfield if he sees the new deal, which is thought that it will run until 2027. Liverpool his sturdy favorites to end the current season as Premier League champions, with what a second English top-flight title for the Egyptian would be.
“I think I said at the start of the season that I just want to win the Premier League more than anything,” Salah said after his new deal was confirmed. “I want it so bad to be honest.
“The fans deserve it – the last time we have won it, we didn't celebrate it that much. Hopefully we will do it this time. There are still seven games to go, it will not be easy at all because Arsenal also catches up.
“We all give it all and hopefully we can win it in the end,” he added. His new deal, however, makes frustrating reading for some of his previous lovers, and over the years Mirror Football has looked at some of the clubs that are connected to him who will look at other goals this summer.
Al ittihad
Saudi Club Al Ittihad made the biggest joint attempt to remove Salah from Anfield before his expansion. They achieved a huge approach to £ 150 million in 2023, but Liverpool would have been left without time to find a replacement.
Earlier that summer they had already made large movements and brought French internationals N'Golo Kante and Karim Benzema on strong wages. Former Liverpool -midfielder Fabinho also moved to Jeddah, although he would ultimately not be accompanied by Salah.
Al Ittihad ended that season in the fifth and failed to qualify for continental competition. They now look better, where the new boss Laurent Blanc places them at the moving distance of the title, but they will have to look somewhere else if they want to attack attacking reinforcements.
All hilal
Al Ittihad is not the only Saudi Pro League side that is linked to Salah. Already Hilal was mentioned as potential lovers in 2023, but they had already spent great on Neymar and Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Neymar has since left and returns to Brazil with Santos after an injury time in the Golf. However, Mitrovic has been more of a success, in which the club is dismissed for the title last season and scored 21 times in all competitions, despite its own injury issues.
Summer signing of Marcos Leonardo has hit this period, with his 17 league goals that jointly have third in the classification of the competition. Already Hilal may have the feeling that they are able to wait and see how realistic a movement for Salah might be in a few years.
Real Madrid
In recent years there have been a few times when Real Madrid is linked to a Salah dive. They do not always need a new superstar, but she has not exactly stopped that before.
Madrid remains in pole position to sign Salah's teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold. However, they do not rub salt in the wound by reuniting the defender with his old Anfield colleague.
Of course, with the side of Carlo Ancelotti with the risk of falling in La Liga and the Champions League, there may still be large summer movements in the Bernabeu. It may just be that one of them comes to the Dugout, with former Liverpool -midfielder Xabi Alonso strongly connected, and he may have his own ideas when it comes to recruitment.
Barcelona
In November it turned out that Barcelona swings its own Salah. He never seemed to be their most important priority, where Barca continues to make their preference for the youth clear while staying on Nico Williams.
Arsenal will offer competition to Athletic Club and Spain Star Williams this summer. However, if Barca misses the 22-year-old, they cannot make Salah their comfort prize.
It may not matter now. With Raphinha and Lamine Yamal who offer a devastating combination of the flanks, Hansi Flick's side has reason to be pretty happy with what they have.
Paris Saint-Germain
In December, L'Equipe suggested that Salah had a good chance of moving to PSG in the summer. The French publication pointed to the good relationship of the attacker with PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi, although the Qatari insisted that no approach had been made.
“I have great respect for him and for Liverpool,” said Al-Khelaifi during the club World Cup Draw. “So we never spoke with him. Respect Liverpool and respect the player – he has a contract with Liverpool and we never spoke with him.”
There was a time when PSG Salah's transfer policy would have made the kind of big name at the top of their list. They have recently preferred younger players, such as Desire Doue Doue and Bradley Barcola play their role in an undefeated competition season.
