Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca admits summer signing could leave the club in January after limited game time

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has admitted that one of the club's summer signings could see his Chelsea career come to a swift end in January.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall joined the Blues from Leicester in July in a deal worth £30 million, reuniting him with former Foxes manager Maresca.

However, he is yet to start a Premier League match for the club and has played just 55 minutes of top-flight football.

His playing time was largely limited to the Europa Conference League, where he scored two goals and an assist in six games.

The second of those goals came in Thursday's 5-1 win over Shamrock Rovers at Stamford Bridge.

And after the match, Maresca could not confirm whether the player would still be at the club in the second half of the season.

The Italian said, as quoted by football.london: 'I can't say that, not about Kiernan, about the whole squad, because when the transfer window is open, unfortunately anything can happen.

“So I'm not focused on January. All I can say about Kiernan is that we are very happy with the way he works, we are very happy with his performance, and this is my opinion of Kiernan.'

He added: 'We don't want any of our players to leave, the problem is that sometimes the question is more up to them, that if they say: okay, you don't want me to leave, but I'm not happy, I want play more.

'So in that case we are not going to say: no, you have to stay, yes or yes. It's a matter of agreement between the club and the player, all I can say is that we are happy with Kiernan, then we will see.'

Dewsbury-Hall is behind Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Enzo Fernandez in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

A product of Leicester's youth academy, the 26-year-old has made almost 200 senior appearances to his name, including 80 in the Premier League.
