MASON MOUNT has admitted he is beyond devastated after a fresh injury ruled the Man Utd star out indefinitely.
The former Chelsea ace was forced off during the first half of the Manchester derby last weekend and appeared visibly emotional as he left the pitch.
In a statement released on Friday evening, he said: “Words cannot express how devastated I feel right now, you could probably see the look on my face when it happened. I knew what it meant.
“Fans of United, you may not know me very well, but I can guarantee one thing: I will never give up or lose confidence.
“I've said this before, but I will continue to give it my all, get through this tough period and not stop until that is achieved.”
Mount's statement comes just hours after Ruben Amorim confirmed he would miss the festive period as a result of the injury.
During his pre-match press conference, Amorim admitted Mount would be out for “several weeks”.
He said: “I don't know the exact date, but it will be a long time. And that's it, it's part of football and you carry on.”
Elaborating on the Red Devils' injury problems, Amorim said he will not comment further on the ongoing problems.
He added: “That's not my department.

“What I can do is help Mase, teach him how to play our game when he is recovering.
“To try to use that time to think about other things. I think the worst thing is that we don't have time to train as we should while you're recovering from a lot of injuries.”
It looks like Marcus Rashford's exile will continue this weekend when Bournemouth travel to Old Trafford.
Luke Shaw will also miss, with Matthijs de Ligt also in some doubt after missing the defeat to Tottenham in midweek due to illness.
