Gary Neville marveled at Trent-Alexander Arnold's assist on Liverpool's opening goal against Tottenham on Sunday.
The Liverpool star earned his fourth assist of the Premier League season with a sublime curling pass to Luis Diaz, who headed home to give the Reds a 1-0 lead at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Colombian quickly recognized his teammate's efforts and celebrated with Alexander-Arnold by figuratively cleaning his boots.
Neville compared Alexander-Arnold to some of the league's best ever ball strikers, including David Beckham.
“I looked at Diaz in the build-up to the goal, he drops deeper than Gakpo and Salah in the old Firmino positions,” he said.
'The cross is something else. It's precision, there are very few players in the history of the Premier League that I've seen who can earn like sixpence with that level of speed, accuracy and whip, it's absolutely perfect.
'KDB, Beckham, Trent, Gerrard maybe in his best years. The pace is on the ball and he does a really good job, throwing his neck back to put some extra power behind Forster.”
Alexander-Arnold has scored the most assists by a defender in Premier League history (62), followed by his teammate Andy Robertson (59).
Only two Liverpool players have more assists than the England star in the league: Steven Gerrard (92) and Mohamed Salah (72).
