Alejandro Garnacho handed brutal reality check after Man Utd transfer request

Alejandro Garnacho will not find a way out of Manchester United at Barcelona after they rejected the possibility of a transfer.

The Argentine was called up by new boss Ruben Amorim, who opted to leave him out of last weekend's Manchester derby win. Garnacho has since returned to the squad, but it was made clear to him that aspects of his attitude and play needed to change.

The winger has continued to thrive in Manchester and would have interested parties if United were to put him on the market. However, the Spanish giants are not among those interested.

Garnacho's representatives contacted Barcelona about whether they would be interested in the Argentine, reports El Nacional, but Hansi Flick turned it down.

Rumor has it that the German manager, who took charge at Camp Nou last summer, immediately said 'no' to the idea of the Madrid-born winger leaving for Catalonia, with particular concerns that he would not fit in with the club's philosophy hard work and focus. .

Barcelona already have a host of impressive players who can play in the wide positions, with the likes of Lamine Yamal and Raphinha on their books. They were also strongly linked with a move for Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao in the summer.

Their recruitment strategy under Flick and sporting director Deco is also focused on top talent that fits the system they use. It is more likely that players like Jamal Musiala and Joshua Kimmich will be pursued because Garnacho's profile does not match their priorities.

Garnacho has since returned to the side, appearing off the bench as United were humbled at home by Bournemouth.

The 20-year-old scored a career-best 10 goals last season, including once in the FA Cup final against Manchester City. He has already found the net eight times this year and remains one of the best attacking threats at Old Trafford.

It remains to be seen where he would fit into Amorim's team in the long term, with Garnacho being able to play as a wing-back or also in the front three, although playing with less width.
