Liverpool transfer news: Trent Alexander-Arnold warned off Madrid move

Liverpool will be top of mind this Christmas as Sunday's win over Tottenham left them four points clear at the top of the Premier League.

The Reds have just two games left until the January transfer window opens. Boss Arne Slot will certainly be looking for reinforcements to increase his team's pressure to win the title this season.

But it also means that the contractless trio of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah can negotiate with foreign clubs. That is a particular concern in the case of Alexander-Arnold, with Real Madrid the frontrunners to sign him.

But the right-back is now being urged to reject the Spanish giants and stay at Anfield instead. Here, Mirror Football collects all the latest Liverpool transfer news.

Alexander-Arnold warned about Madrid

Jamie Carragher has urged Trent Alexander-Arnold to sign a new contract with Liverpool and reject a move to Real Madrid. The Reds icon believes the right-back can earn a place in the club's folklore if he chooses to stay.

“If Trent Alexander doesn't care (how he is remembered), that's fine, but I think if he stays at the club he will be remembered as one of the best players to ever play for the football club,” said him to Sky Sports.

“If I were to advise Trent I would say… a lot of it is a free transfer but it is the feeling that you are leaving us for (nothing) and where is our money to replace you. I would say : sign a contract.” contract, make sure it has a decent buyout clause, that's not ridiculous and if Real Madrid want to buy you in 12 months or in two years.”

Wonderkid urged Reds to tee off

Sunderland boss Roger Le Bris has urged wonderkid Trey Ogunsuyi to reject a move to Liverpool. The 18-year-old has already scored 15 goals for the Black Cats' U-18s and U-21s, and Le Bris is keen for him to stay.

'He's very young and probably Riggy [Chris Rigg]Tommy [Watson] and Jobe [Bellingham] are the best examples to follow in our club. “When you move to another club with a very strong squad, you have to find the right environment to develop yourself,” he said.

“I don't know, social media and all that can talk a lot, but ultimately if we create the right environment and the player, his family and agents are rational, we are in a good place to create the right path for him.

Star advocates for Liverpool

Mathias Kvistgaarden has made a plea to come and get me while he wants to leave Brondby. The Dane has scored 14 goals and registered five assists, but despite having more than two years left on his contract, he has revealed he is ready to move on and calls Liverpool his dream destination.

“Now it's time,” he told the Fjæstid podcast. “I've been saying for years that I'm happy to be in Brøndby and that I don't mind being in Brøndby, but now I'm starting to find myself in a situation where I want to try something different.

“I'm not aiming for anything specific, but the dream is of course a top five competition. But it's also about the playing style. My dream club to play for is Liverpool.”
