Conor McGregor performs Mike Perry U-Turn after ‘firing’ rival as he pushes for fight with former UFC champion

Conor McGregor appears to have backtracked on his decision to 'fire' Mike Perry, while actually backing his latest call-out.

After Perry was stopped by Jake Paul in July, his troubles were compounded by McGregor taking to social media to declare he had been 'fired' from BKFC. The Irishman had just joined the company and is a co-owner, although his ability to make such big moves was always questioned.

Perry wasn't so sure about his move, and it now appears he may be on his way back to the squared circle sooner than it seemed. He attended last night's show in Hollywood, Florida, and appeared to have McGregor's support in his call-out.

Conor McGregor 'fired' Mike Perry after losing to Jake Paul

After defeating Thiago Alves at KnuckleMania in April, Mike Perry had emerged as a top candidate for one of the breakout stars of the year. He quickly became a fan favorite at BKFC, beating world champions and making huge amounts of money.

But that hype was derailed significantly when he was brutally knocked down multiple times and stopped by Paul in a short-lived fight. He offered to perform for Mike Tyson on the date after the heavyweight legend had to pull out, keeping the star active on social media.

However, pay-per-view sales were below Paul's usual levels and the nature of his defeat left fans scratching their heads as to why he would do it. And even his new 'boss' Conor McGregor ran into trouble, repeatedly stating that he had been 'fired' from the promotion.

“Hey Mike, you're released,” he wrote in the early morning hours to his millions of followers on X, formerly Twitter. “And you can go compete in your stinking dirty boxing championship thing, the smell of it, good luck. You're fired.”

He has since repeated that claim, telling The Schmo last month: “Mike [Perry] has been fired, but we are in negotiations. [Dave] “Redneck” Mundell called him out. He's been afraid of Mundell. We had to give him a little title: 'The King of Violence' or whatever you call it.

“But he never became a world champion. And he's afraid of Dave 'Redneck' Mundell. He has now summoned him; Let's see what Perry responds.”

Mike Perry hit back after being 'fired'

Perry, however, refused to take McGregor's insults lying down. He regularly emphasized that he is also part owner of the promotion that contested the Irishman, and in a documentary promoting his Dirty Boxing Championship, he finally gave a lengthy answer.

“What makes me angry is that everyone sucks their balls,” Perry said after insisting that a fight between the two would be “good for everyone.” 'For example, he has already fought for them. Hey, have you all forgotten that I'm the reason you're getting excited right now?

'I have fought for you five times and you show no love for me. The fighter in Utah who won and sent me into the ring. Okay, that's the most viral thing you can do, but you're lucky I didn't get in that ring right now, I should have.

'But for what? Then Dave Mundell posted a message shaking Conor's hand like you suck on it, bro. That's why I knocked you out twice, you son of a bitch, yeah, you heard me.”

Now Mike Perry has Conor McGregor's blessing to call out Robbie Lawler

And it's starting to look like McGregor is ready to take Perry back as he showed his support for his rival at the Florida event yesterday. Perry was present live, while the Irishman watched from Dubai.

At one point, Perry was interviewed on the broadcast and called out former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler. “Who should meet me next?” he asked. “I see Robbie Lawler in the crowd and I think he should take off the gloves and step into the squared circle against Platinum Mike Perry.”

The former world champion was once linked to Perry during their UFC days, but an injury prevented him from fighting. Ironically, that fight seemed cursed because when Perry was given a replacement opponent, 'Platinum' ultimately proved too tough, meaning neither he nor Lawler were ready for fight night.

And McGregor seemed okay with the idea, writing to fans on social media as if the drama had never happened: “What a show! Perry vs. Lawler? Give me.”
