Before Jon Jones joined the UFC and became the greatest fighter of all time, he had a terrifying experience when he was just 17 years old.
It's fair to say that Jon Jones' martial arts career has been controversial both inside and outside the cage.
When 'Bones' made his promotional debut in 2008 at just 21 years old, the MMA world knew they had something extremely special and unique on their hands.

Jon Jones recalls a terrifying encounter in prison when he was 17 years old
Jones' UFC career has unfortunately been tainted with legal issues throughout and that has been very well documented.
Even to the point where UFC CEO Dana White has openly admitted that he hasn't had the best relationship with the current UFC heavyweight champion, despite his continued support of him as pound-for-pound number one.
Despite being involved in legal troubles during his 16-year UFC stint, Jones recalls a terrifying moment when he was in prison at the age of 17.
“The longest time I spent in jail was three months. When I was a young child, I got into an argument with a man outside his house and they considered it a burglary,” Jones began explaining in an interview on Alex G Wash. Here.
“I think I was 17 and I think I went to jail for that, I was 18… No, I didn't (fight someone in jail). But man, I let a cat tell me, he said, “You ain't like me, you ain't like me,” he said, “You grew up on the wrestling team when you got me on the ground You'd probably think that the misery was over and you had won.
“He said, 'If I knock you out, I'm going to drag your leg to a wall and put your leg against the wall and stomp your kneecaps out.' And I'll never forget when he stomped on the ground, I was 17 or 18 years old. I'll never forget when he stomped on the ground.
“I was shocked, I was shocked. I sat there with a straight face as if I wasn't afraid, but deep inside I was terrified, I was terrified.
“It's kind of funny now because fast forward, it's really hard to intimidate or scare me now,” Jones continued.
Tom Aspinall hopes he can intimidate Jon Jones
Following his recent title defense against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, Jones will now decide whether to unify the heavyweight title with interim champion Tom Aspinall.
Although 'Bones' wasn't initially interested in a fight against the speedy Aspinall, he has seemingly come to terms with that fight being his next fight.
Recently at UFC Tampa's post-fight press conference, UFC boss White admitted that he has “100% confidence” that Jones will continue to fight Aspinall before he lays down his UFC gloves.
