Former UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski took a closer look at Alex Pereira during a recent Q&A with fans.
Alex Pereira and Alexander Volkanovski have a number of things in common, including their position as two of the greatest fighters in UFC history. Beyond that, their physical traits are on opposite ends of the genetic spectrum, as there is a 60-pound weight difference between them.
But that didn't stop Volkanovski from revealing how he would schedule Pereira if they were hypothetically booked to fight each other.
Pereira rose to superstardom just a few years after becoming the fastest in UFC history to win titles in multiple weight classes. After defeating Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 307, Pereira looks ahead to a potential showdown with another elite light heavyweight contender in Magomed Ankalaev.
Meanwhile, Volkanovski has proven throughout his UFC career that he is an anytime, anywhere fighter. His short-term attempt to become a two-weight world champion at UFC 294 showed fans and pundits that he is as good as they come.
Volkanovski will likely never reach 205 pounds during his career, despite admittedly being around that weight in his rugby league. But Volkanovski answered a fan's hypothetical question about how he would prepare to face Pereira in the Octagon.

Alexander Volkanovski explains how he would fight Alex Pereira
In a recent Q&A uploaded to his YouTube channel, Volkanovski was asked if he wanted to fight Pereira.
“Money talks [LAUGHS]…I'm not going to stand up to that guy, let's be honest, I'm going to try to hold the legs and find that takedown,” Volkanovski said. 'Because if you don't, you're going to suffer, that's for sure.
“I don't think there's anyone I wouldn't like [fight].”
Volkanovski is looking to rebound after a knockout loss to Ilia Topuria at UFC 298. A rematch with Topuria is possible before 2025 if the current titleholder does not go through with the proposed move to lightweight.
After capturing the UFC light heavyweight title last year, Pereira will defend the title three times in 2024 and make a strong case for Fighter of the Year. Although no timetable has yet been set for his return, it is expected that he may defend the title in the first semester of 2025.
Alexander Volkanovski's team has first-hand knowledge of Alex Pereira's fighting talents
Volkanovski and City Kickboxing are all too familiar with Pereira's skills and the danger he brings in the Octagon. City Kickboxing standout Israel Adesanya has fought Pereira four times in their fighting career, including twice in Glory Kickboxing.
Adesanya's first reign in the UFC middleweight title came to an abrupt end when Pereira rallied late to finish him at UFC 281. But Adesanya got his revenge in their UFC 287 rematch, earning a 'Knockout of the Year' candidate last year .
While Volkanovski and Pereira will likely never receive a yellow card for a fight, Volkanovski's slump shows that he will not shy away from any challenge, no matter the steep climb it entails.
