Nusret Gökçe, known as “Salt Bae”, is a Turkish chef, restaurateur and butcher. He rose to fame in 2017 thanks to his signature salt-sprinkling gesture, which made him a global social media icon.
Born in 1983, Gökçe grew up in a poor family, dropped out of school at a young age and worked as an apprentice in a slaughterhouse in Istanbul, where he gradually mastered the skills of meat processing and cooking. He founded the steakhouse “Nusr-Et”, which has locations in several major cities around the world, including Istanbul, Dubai, New York and London. Known for their high-quality steaks and luxurious dining experiences, these restaurants attract countless celebrities and foodies.
