From January 1, 2025, Jonathan David (24) may discuss a pre-contractual agreement with another club. The Canadian international has been linked with a big-money move away from Lille OSC in each of the past three summers, but a move never materialized. But with his contract expiring at the end of the season, he could ultimately leave for free.
It is a situation that LOSC would like to avoid. The club have repeatedly ruled out selling the Canada international in January, insisting he will finish the season with Les Dogues, but after that it seems increasingly likely that David's future lies elsewhere.
According to RMC Sport, Olivier Létang and the hierarchy at Lille are still trying to extend the striker's current contract. However, the publication adds that the club's hopes for this are dwindling and, as things stand, there is little chance of David extending his current contract. A free transfer in the summer therefore seems very likely.
