Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to seven points as they fought back to beat feisty Leicester City 3-1 at Anfield.
Jordan Ayew opened the scoring after just six minutes as Leicester, who ended up in the relegation zone earlier on Boxing Day, threatened with a huge disappointment.
He turned onto Stephy Mavididi's cross as he held off Andrew Robertson before pressing his finish inside the near post, giving Leicester a timely boost after Wolves' win over Manchester United moved into the bottom three.
Robertson and Mohamed Salah both hit the woodwork before Liverpool finally broke through with an excellent strike from Cody Gakpo, and it was one-way traffic from then on.
Curtis Jones created a 2-1 lead early in the second half, sweeping in Alexis Mac Allister's cross from six yards out before Salah secured the points in the 82nd minute.
The Egyptian reached the area before tucking a neat finish inside the far post to score his 100th home goal in the Premier League, and his 16th overall in the competition this season.
Liverpool's lead at the top could be cut to six points when Arsenal host Ipswich Town on Friday, while Leicester now sit 18th, one point behind Vitor Pereira's resurgent Wolves.
Data debrief: Salah brings up big 250
Salah made his 250th Premier League start for Liverpool and registered his 250th goal for the Reds in the competition.
He is only the fourth player to achieve this feat for one club, after Wayne Rooney for Manchester United (276), Ryan Giggs for the same side (271) and Harry Kane for Tottenham (259).
Salah also has 100 home goals in the Premier League, including 98 for Liverpool and two for Chelsea.
He is only the eighth player to reach this milestone and has done so in the fourth fewest appearances, after Alan Shearer (91 appearances), Thierry Henry (113) and Sergio Aguero (125).
