Real Madrid were one of three teams to pursue Erling Haaland before he left Borussia Dortmund, and Los Blancos are yet to give up on the Norwegian phenomenon. The latest news from Spain is that he remains a target.
According to Cadena SER, Real Madrid are still planning to pursue Haaland and could make progress as early as this summer. What will be crucial is the resolution of the Premier League charges against Manchester City and the associated sanctions.
Haaland has no intention of staying out of the Champions League for two seasons (a possible punishment if City are relegated), and Los Blancos would benefit from that. They are already aware of his release clause at City and are interested in reuniting him with Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe.
The downside to that, however, is that Rodrygo Goes could see his days at Real Madrid as numbered if Haaland arrives. Although Florentino Perez is a fan of his and it looked like he would be affected by the arrival of Kylian Mbappe, there would be little doubt that he would have to move at that time.
