In an interview with La Voix du Nord, Jonathan David (24) has raised the possibility of staying at Lille OSC after the end of his current contract, which expires at the end of the season.
From January 1, 2025, David may discuss a pre-contractual agreement with another club. The Canada international has been linked with a move away from Lille in each of the past three summers, but a move never materialized. But with his contract expiring at the end of the season, he could ultimately leave for free.
It's a situation that Les Dogues are trying to avoid and as a result, talks about an extension remain ongoing, as confirmed by David himself. “As the president (Olivier Létang) has often said: there are talks. We are in discussions, but no decision has been made yet. We're still talking […] the door is never closed. It's 50/50,” said the Canadian international.
Létang has already confirmed that David, like all the other key players at LOSC, will remain at the club in January. If the striker leaves, it seems that he will not move to his dream club Barcelona. Mundo Deportivo understands that La Liga is not convinced enough to make a move for the Canadian.
