Valencia to be without two key players for Real Madrid showdown

Valencia and Real Madrid will play La Liga's first match of 2025 on Friday, with the match postponed from November after it was postponed due to Storm DANA. It will also be a debut for new Los Che head coach Carlos Corberan, who was appointed last week following the dismissal of Ruben Baraja.

It will be a difficult start to his managerial career at Mestalla for Corberan, especially as he will not be able to call on Giorgi Mamardashvili or Jose Gaya for the match against Real Madrid. According to Diario AS, both are still out due to the injuries they suffered earlier this month.

It means that Stole Dimitrievski continues to score goals for Valencia, while the left-back position is much more open. Luis Rioja has started the last few games there and despite being a winger, he was tested there again by Corberan, suggesting he will also be used there against Real Madrid.
