Barcelona remain confident of agreeing a deal with LaLiga to re-register Olmo

Barcelona remain confident of striking a deal with LaLiga to re-sign Dani Olmo, but clubs across Europe, including in the Premier League, are keeping a close eye on events.

The Spanish club is believed to be remaining calm about the situation despite missing a deadline to meet the financial ratio target needed to put him back on the books from January 2.

It has been described by sources in Catalonia as a 'postponement' – and Olmo himself posted a New Year's Eve message on his social media with two hearts in the colors of Barcelona.

LaLiga said Barcelona “has not presented any alternative” to adhering to the rules, which required the club to “register every player from January 2”.

A judge had ruled against the club on Monday in the second consecutive setback in the run-up to the end-of-year deadline.

Without court support or league approval, Olmo's contract cannot be re-registered, despite only joining Barca from RB Leipzig last summer.

Barcelona had reportedly reached a deal to sell VIP seats at the renovated Camp Nou stadium for €100 million (£82.9 million), which Spanish media said would be enough to add Olmo and Pau Victor to send to the selection.

Barca president Joan Laporta has been criticized by the Spanish media and Barca fans for the situation.
