Espanyol have announced the arrival of Real Madrid defender Pablo Ramon on a 4.5-year contract. Los Pericos are currently locked in the relegation battle and sit a point adrift of safety, with the fourth-worst defensive record in the division.
Ramon, 23, initially came through at RCD Mallorca before moving to Los Blancos in 2019, where he spent most of his time with their Castilla B team. Last season he made his first step into professional football on loan at Mirandes in Segunda, where he made 36 appearances as a starter. However, he did not play for Castilla this season.
The Catalan side have a history of signing Real Madrid youngsters, including Lucas Vazquez and Marco Asensio, and Ramon will join the club on a free contract until 2028. However, Los Blancos retains 50% of its rights, allowing them to do so. Then pick it up at a reduced price.
