Barcelona are currently busy signing Dani Olmo and Pau Victor in January, but they have other big things planned for this month. As well as pursuing Bayer Leverkusen's Jonathan Tah, Barcelona will look to sign Pedri on a new contract.
According to Sport, Barcelona plan to finalize a new contract for the Canary Islander until 2030 this month. Once the Olmo and Victor registration drama is resolved, Barcelona, now in an improved salary cap situation following the €100 million sale of VIP boxes for the next twenty years at Camp Nou, will look to announce the Pedri deal, with conversations for Gavi and Ronald. Araujo follows. They will also announce the deal already agreed upon for Marc Bernal. The Catalan daily notes that Pedri is currently one of the few 'untouchables' in Barcelona's squad.
Regardless of whether we tie Pedri down for another four years, the good news will be lost on Barcelona fans if they don't get to play Olmo or Victor for the rest of the season. However, the 22-year-old has been ubiquitous for Hansi Flick this season and his return to fitness has been the driving force behind their good early-season form.
