Tottenham have explored the financial terms of a potential January takeover of Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani.
The French international striker has been cleared to leave the Ligue 1 giants this month after being told he is no longer part of Luis Enrique's plans at the Parc des Princes.
There is strong interest from both the Premier League and Europe, with Italian giants Juventus currently in charge of signing the player.
However, Spurs are also alert to the availability of Kolo Muani and would be interested in an initial loan, provided they can make the numbers work. They have already held initial talks with PSG to gather information, but any deal would require them to pay a significant percentage of the Frenchman's wages, which are reportedly worth more than £160,000 per week.
An additional sticking point is PSG's insistence on a mandatory purchase clause as they look to recoup a large portion of the £76.4 million (including add-ons) they paid to Eintracht Frankfurt for the striker's signature in September 2023.
PSG are believed to be looking for at least £50 million plus a possible loan fee to reach a total deal, although they are open to negotiations on that figure, which suitors are reluctant to match given the desperation to sell .
Tottenham, who are open to strengthening their attacking line and also have other striker targets on their radar, have money to spend and face no financial constraints this month as Ange Postecoglou attempts to revive his side's turbulent season.
The Spurs hierarchy are willing to back the Australian with a number of new signings on the market and his job remains safe despite the club's worrying form.
Aston Villa are also thought to be monitoring Kolo Muani's situation and French sources suggest Monaco have already failed to make an approach in the past week.
Chelsea are not interested in the 26-year-old despite rumors they will replace the striker, who has been brought around by intermediaries.
Spurs have already committed to completing their first signing of the January transfer window in the form of Slavia Prague goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky.
The highly rated 21-year-old shot-stopper was identified through data algorithms by Spurs technical director Johan Lange and the club subsequently scouted to watch the youngster in the Europa League for Slavia when he impressed.
Kinsky flew to London last weekend to undergo a medical before sealing a move worth £12.5million plus additional costs.
Former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has since revealed that he was consulted by his compatriot ahead of the transfer, as Cech has previously worked closely with Kinsky's agency Sport Invest.
Cech told Czech iSport that he was happy to give his advice ahead of such a big move, explaining: “I talked to him about it and told him my opinion. But he is very lucky that he has a great background at home His father, who has enormous experience, creates this for him. Overall, his career shows that they have an excellent relationship, so he knows my opinion, but I don't think he even needed it.
