Man Utd prioritise 3 big-money exits in bid to prevent Kobbie Mainoo sale

Manchester United will look to offload three of their biggest earners – including Marcus Rashford and Casemiro – so they can keep Kobbie Mainoo.

The Old Trafford hierarchy have made it clear that the entire squad is up for sale and that they will listen to offers for any player. This includes Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, two young talents of the club.

United are in dire need of cash and are open to bids for the majority of individuals, even if they are expected to have big careers. They would rather not say goodbye to Mainoo and are currently in the middle of contract talks with the young midfielder.

However, they are currently far apart when it comes to finances, with the teenager looking to secure a £200,00-a-week deal in Manchester. United want to reduce the wage bill and could sacrifice some high earners to give Mainoo what he wants.

The Daily Mail understands that Rashford, Casemiro and Antony could all be moved to free up space in the balance sheet. Mainoo was considered untouchable under Erik ten Hag when the Red Devils first signaled that they were almost completely open for business.

That position has since changed and Mainoo will attract a lot of interest. Chelsea are among those keen and the England international's value will continue to fall as his contract expires, but United are still more likely to sell in the summer, if at all.

INEOS will not be ring-fencing any assets this month, meaning Leny Yoro, Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt, Manuel Ugarte and Joshua Zirkzee could be released after just six months at the club.

Amorim has already been told he will be working with a limited transfer budget after the club spent £600 million on players for his predecessor Erik ten Hag. It means he has no chance of landing his top transfer target Viktor Gyokeres in the January window, with the Swede carrying an £80million release clause.

The PSR rules are a real concern for United, who have made a pre-tax loss of £312.9 million over the past three seasons. A recent report shows that United have racked up a staggering net spend of €1.3 billion since 2015, more than any other club in the world.
