Cristiano Ronaldo makes Man Utd transfer request with Al-Nassr contract expiring

Cristiano Ronaldo has urged Al-Nassr to sign Manchester United star Casemiro.

The Brazilian midfielder is one of the players that the Red Devils would like to sell. They would like to take his huge wages off the balance sheet at Old Trafford.

Saudi Arabia has been regularly touted as an option for the former Real Madrid star, with a host of clubs expressing their interest in him and Al-Nassr chief among them. A transfer would reunite him with former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, who left Old Trafford in explosive fashion in 2022.

And it appears the Portuguese veteran is doing everything he can to get a deal over the line.

According to reports, Ronaldo has made a personal plea to club chiefs to seal Casemiro's signature. United boss Ruben Amorim has already approved a sale, with the vast majority of the Red Devils' underperforming squad available for the right price.

Casemiro, 32, has made 105 appearances for the club since joining Real Madrid. His lucrative contract at Old Trafford runs for another eighteen months.

His performances this season have attracted criticism, with some criticizing his lack of pace – something Amorim claims he can sympathize with. After the recent defeat to Newcastle, he said: “I can understand the criticism and I understand it when you compare the pace of the Newcastle midfielders to our pace.

“We try to deal with it and try to put our players in a position that can hide the pace difference a little bit. But I understand that after the match it is very easy to judge the players.

“I think all the criticism surrounding my team is justified and I can live with that. If it's honest, I can live with that and I can understand it.”

Even if Al-Nassr manages to sign Casemiro, his reunion with Ronaldo may not last long. He has just six months left on his contract in Saudi Arabia and is considering his options with a move to MLS on the table according to Marca.

But Ronaldo remained steadfast in his praise for the Saudi Pro League amid talk about its future, claiming it is better than Ligue 1. He said: “The Saudi Pro League is of course better than Ligue 1.

“I'm not saying that because I play here. I don't care what people think. Players need to come here and they will see it soon. Just try doing sprints at 38, 39, 40 degrees…

“Come and see. If you don't believe me, come. In France they only have PSG, the rest is done. No one can beat them because they have the most money and the best players.”
