Inter Miami owner hits out at roadblocks to Neymar’s MLS arrival

Jorge Mas spoke about the possibilities The Herons have to sign the Brazilian.

Amid Inter Miami's preparations for the demanding 2025 season – which includes Major League Soccer competitions, the CONCACAF Champions Cup and the Club World Cup – key comments from Neymar emerged on Tuesday in which he expressed his desire to to reunite with Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez.

Despite this, The Herons remain focused on the competition as they explore the possibility of completing such a signing in the future.

In an interview with GIVEMESPORT's Ben Jacobs, Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas discussed the franchise's ambition to sign the 32-year-old Brazilian star: “The key is whether he is available. At the moment he is an Al Hilal player, so he is not available to us. I have always said that we strive to bring great players to our team. Although we face many team limitations, we have an unlimited budget.”

Inter Miami 'will not hesitate' to sign Neymar

Mas emphasized the team's long-term goals, adding: “We have high ambitions. If the opportunity arises to sign a player of Neymar's caliber, we will not hesitate. It's not just me though; it depends on the player and the league. That said, we want to build a great team here.”

He also highlighted Messi's transformative impact on the sport in the US and outlined the team's ambitions for the coming years: “Look what Lionel Messi has done: he has revolutionized football in the United States and the global perception of American football has changed. As we prepare to represent our country at the Club World Cup, starting with our opening match against Al-Ahly, hundreds of millions of people will be watching. It is both an incredible opportunity and a great challenge for us.”

Neymar expresses his desire to return to Brazil

In a separate interview with CNN, Neymar shared his ambitions to represent Brazil at the 2026 World Cup in North America, saying: “I have a lot of confidence in our team and in the young players who are emerging. Right now we are not where we would like to be, but I believe that together we can achieve something remarkable. We have a year and a half to prepare and do things right.”

He continued: “I will do everything I can to definitely return, of course. I'll try, I want to be there. I knew this would be my last World Cup, my last chance. My last chance and I will do everything I can to be part of it.”

For Neymar to achieve this goal, staying healthy, finding his rhythm and performing at the highest level is essential. In this context, Inter Miami could provide an ideal environment for him to rebuild his form and realize his ambitions. “It would of course be incredible to play with Messi and Suárez again. They are my friends. We still speak to each other. It would be interesting to revive the trio,” he concluded, raising hopes in the minds of fans.
