Real Madrid and Mallorca face each other on Thursday in the second semi-final of the 2025 Spanish Super Cup, and the good news for the defending champions is that Vinicius Junior will be available for that match (and a possible final) after picking up a two received. La Liga match suspended due to his red card against Valencia.
Vinicius has had several clashes with Mallorca players in recent years, and it could be a tactic they look to adopt again in Saudi Arabia. Captain Antonio Raillo, however, has chosen to remain tight-lipped on the matter, MD said.
“The focus is a little more on him, because he is a very decisive player. He always looks up, tries to dribble and beat the opponent… It's normal that he gets more fouls, and when he gets more fouls, the bad guys are the defenders. I'd rather not say anything because it would create a controversy that wouldn't benefit anyone.
'Is it easy to provoke Vinicius? The point is that no matter what we say, you want to take everything out of context. We prefer not to say anything about it and are therefore not even going to evaluate. Not answering this question is the best remedy for that.”
There is no doubt that Mallorca will have to keep Vinicius quiet if they want to reach Sunday's final, although this is much easier said than done. Real Madrid will look to the Brazilian as a point of reference, as usual, although they will want him to keep a cool head.
