The 18 players to have won a major trophy after leaving Tottenham since 2015

As Tottenham continue to wait for their first trophy since 2008, several of their former players have found success elsewhere.

Over the past fifteen years, more than a hundred trophies have been won by former Spurs players, with Luka Modric and Gareth Bale responsible for more than forty of them.

We've taken a look at the 18 players who have left Tottenham over the past decade and won silverware in one of Europe's top leagues. Please note: we have only included players who have played in the first team for Spurs.

Walker was already one of the best defenders in the Premier League at Tottenham, but since leaving White Hart Lane he has gone to another level. Signed as one of Pep Guardiola's full-backs in 2017, he saw immediate success as Manchester City enjoyed their 'Centurion' season. Five more Premier League titles followed and he also won seven domestic cups at the Etihad, including the 2021 League Cup, after beating his former side in the final at Wembley. He completed the set with a starring role in their historic Champions League treble in 2022-23 and featured prominently again as they made it four in a row last season.

After failing to live up to expectations at Tottenham, Paulinho was sent to Chinese Super League team Guangzhou Evergrande in 2015. He impressed in China but many eyebrows were raised when Spanish giants Barcelona signed the midfielder on a £36.4million contract in 2017. Despite struggling to perform keepy-uppies during his unveiling, Paulinho silenced his critics and won the domestic double in his only season at Camp Nou.

Benjamin Stambouli

Stambouli failed to impress at Tottenham and was somehow sold to PSG for a profit after just one season. The former Marseille midfielder also only played there for a season before joining Bundesliga side Schalke in the summer of 2016. At least he got the win. the Ligue 1 title, the Coupe de France, the Coupe de la Ligue and two Trophees des Champions during his time in Paris, giving PSG an average of a trophy every eight games.

After spending six and a half trophy-less years at Tottenham, Eriksen sought a new challenge outside the club and joined Inter Milan in January 2020.

“There is a big chance to win a trophy here or a bigger chance than where I was of course,” Eriksen told Sky in Italy after completing his move to Inter.

He played his part at Inter and ended Juventus' nine-year stranglehold on the Serie A title. He is now back in the Premier League and helped end Manchester United's six-year trophy drought with the League Cup in February 2023, although he was injured in the final.

The Dane has now added the FA Cup to his list of achievements, although he did not come off the bench in the Manchester derby final.

There were some crazy title races across Europe in 2020-2021; La Liga went straight to the wire, while Lille nervously held off PSG in France. But none were as crazy as the Turkish Super Lig showdown, where Besiktas beat rivals Galatasaray by one goal on goal difference to win the title.

Despite being integral to Spurs' run to the Champions League final in 2018/19, Llorente was released by the club a few weeks later.

The attacker joined Serie A club Napoli on a free transfer, but only played a supporting role under Gennaro Gattuso and made only 29 appearances for the club.

Despite being an unused substitute in four of their five Coppa Italia matches in 2020, the handsome bastard still received a winners' medal after Napoli defeated Juventus 4-2 on penalties in the final.

After falling down the pecking order under Andre Villas-Boas, Defoe decided to move to Major League Soccer side Toronto FC in January 2014.

He returned to English football with Sunderland and Bournemouth before leaving for Rangers in 2019, initially on loan and then on a permanent contract.

The 38-year-old finally lifted the league title in 2021, scoring four goals in 15 games as Steven Gerrard's side won the Scottish Premier League.

“I've dedicated my whole career and my whole life to moments like this,” Defoe told RangersTV in March 2021. “I always knew it would happen at some point in my career and that's what pushed me to be honest.

“People always say what keeps you going and how you stay motivated, and that's for moments like this.”

Trippier made more than 100 appearances for Spurs during his four-year spell at the club, but he was looking for a new challenge in 2019 and ended up at Atletico Madrid.

The full-back featured in the 2020/21 La Liga winning season as Atletico defeated Barcelona and Real Madrid to clinch the title. Trippier will now look to expand his trophy collection with Newcastle, who are as desperate as Spurs to secure their silverware promises.

The Argentine defender never really settled into life in North London, making just 32 appearances in his three seasons at the club. He has now found his new home in Villarreal, where he loves life.

Foyth won the 2020/21 Europa League with the Spanish side as they defeated Manchester United in the final on penalties.

The French midfielder was also part of the Villarreal squad that won the 2020/21 Europa League. Capoue made a total of 36 appearances for Spurs during his two-year spell.

Janssen's time in North London was not particularly memorable, as he only scored two league goals during his entire spell at the club.

However, he managed to revive his goalscoring streak in Mexico as he helped Monterrey to a league and cup double in 2019/20. He also won the CONCACAF Champions League with them in 2021.

The Brazilian forward scored ten goals for Spurs during his loan spell in 2020-21, but ultimately left the club without a trophy.

It didn't take long for him to get his hands on some silverware, however, as his next season saw him win the KNVB Cup with PSV before returning to the Premier League with Fulham.

“This is great. It's amazing. I can't ask for more. This feeling is incredible and we are going to enjoy it a lot,” the Argentine told BT Sport after Sevilla defeated Jose Mourinho's Roma last season to win a record-extending seventh Europa League title.

“Not an easy game to play. We weren't feeling on our best day. They played this game. They defend well. [It] It was difficult to find the spaces and create the situations.”

Lamela was brought on at half-time as the La Liga side came back from a goal down to draw 1-1, before successfully firing his penalty in the penalty shootout victory.

He left Spurs for Sevilla in 2021, using it as a substitute (plus another £21m) for Bryan Gil who went in the opposite direction. Gil also picked up a Europa League winners medal after returning to Ramon Sánchez Pizjuan on loan. Ouch.

The American international defender had more loans to Football League clubs than he made first-team appearances for Spurs, having played just a handful of games in the cup competitions before finding a home at Celtic.

Carter-Vickers played a key role on loan under Ange Postecoglou as Celtic reaffirmed their dominance in Scotland in the 2021-22 season, before joining the club on a permanent basis. Since then he has won a further two Scottish Premiership titles and is on course to make it four in a row this year.

He has also won two Scottish Cups and three Scottish League Cups. Not bad, that.

The goalkeeper spent just one season at Tottenham, the most memorable moment being when he/his social media manager posted 'job done' after they were dumped out of the Europa League by Dynamo Zagreb.

He joined Big Ange's Celtic in 2021 and saw his playing career win three consecutive league titles alongside Carter-Vickers.

The defender delivered a moment of absolute ridiculousness as he delivered the title for his hometown club in 2023.

The Brazilian winger played a peripheral role at best in his final season at Tottenham but looks to revive his career at his boyhood club Sao Paulo.

After just a few months and just a handful of appearances, Moura took silverware after playing in both legs as Sao Paulo defeated David Luiz's Flamengo in the Copa do Brasil final. He has since added a Brazilian Supercopa for good measure.

He originally only returned to Sao Paulo on a short-term contract, but he has found his feet again and has extended his contract until 2026.
