Real Madrid were reunited with an old friend in Saudi Arabia as Karim Benzema joined their Spanish Super Cup camp.
Benzema took time out from his training schedule at Al Ittihad to check in with his former teammates in Jeddah.
Los Blancos will face Barcelona in the final on January 12, a tournament that Benzema won four times during his time in Madrid, including two finals against their El Clasico rivals.
The veteran striker revealed in an interview with Marca that he spoke to Vincius Junior about his frustration at not winning the 2024 Ballon d'Or with a word of wisdom for the Brazilian.
“I told him not to pay attention to critics, that you should not lower the intensity because you are the best in the world, and one day you will win the Ballon d'Or,” he said.
Benzema was also asked about the possibility of a return to Madrid before his retirement, and with his plan to play until at least 2027, he is open to the next step.
“Why not? Right now I'm in Jeddah and things are going well. The time will come to see what life is like and I'm sure I'll be close to Madrid again.”
