Barcelona will need to find £5.5million if they want to secure a deal for Marcus Rashford this month.
The Spanish club are among those interested in the Manchester United striker, who is out in the cold at Old Trafford and struggling for selection. A move in January has been touted, with a number of European clubs interested in a striker.
Mirror Football understands that Rashford's representatives have held talks with Barcelona as he looks for a new challenge. The La Liga team don't have a ton of money and only had to sell VIP seats to ensure they could sign Dani Olmo for the summer.
If those at Camp Nou want to bring in Rashford to further strengthen their attacking line, it will cost them just over £5 million to complete the deal as they would have to absorb the player's full wages.
Rashford has a number of clubs monitoring his situation. Juventus and AC Milan are also interested with Monaco shortlisting the United forward, but several of their suitors are said to struggle to pay the 27-year-old's wages.
Barcelona have a host of high-quality attacking options, meaning Rashford is by no means guaranteed a starting spot, but the Catalan club have previously expressed interest in him. They are in the hunt for several trophies but need to get their form back at the start of the season.
Ronald Araujo, Eric Garcia, Ansu Fati and Frenkie de Jong are among those who could leave the Spanish giants this month, which would provide funds to run their operations in the new year.
Rashford himself has spoken openly about seeking a “new challenge” after seeing his shares at Old Trafford fall. After his 30-goal campaign two seasons ago, his form has dropped and he is open to the possibility of pastures new.
He said: “If I leave, there won't be any hard feelings. You won't get any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That's me as a person. If I know a situation is already bad, then I will” I'm going to don't make it worse. I've seen other players leave in the past and I don't want to be that person. When I leave, I will make a statement and it will be mine.”
