‘Khamzat would destroy you’… Darren Till takes aim at Bo Nickal over historic comments about Khamzat Chimaev

Undefeated middleweight prospect Bo Nickal is receiving harsh criticism following his performance at UFC 309 last Saturday.

The decorated college wrestler picked up the biggest win of his UFC tenure to date, defeating former light heavyweight Paul Craig via unanimous decision at UFC 309.

Despite the victory, the 28-year-old was booed mercilessly by the crowd at Madison Square Garden as fans began chanting “overrated” for his failure to score another fast finish.

Darren Till Targets Bo Nickal Over Historical Comments About Khamzat Chimaev

Although he left the promotion back in 2022, former UFC star Darren Till has remained quite on top of the happenings in middleweight as his friend, Khamzat Chimaev, continues his rise in the division.

At one point, a possible match between Bo Nickal and Chimaev was highlighted by the fans, with both 185lbers considered future champions of the division.

When the fight originally took place, Nickal opened as a heavy favorite on the betting lines, noting that he “wasn't surprised.”

However, since the 28-year-old's comments, Chimaev's career has seemingly gone much better than Nickal's, with the Chechen currently ranked third in the division, while Nickal remains unranked.

“Man talked so much nonsense. Since he came to the UFC, he didn't talk to me like I haven't fought there anymore and beat the best guys. Be more modest, because you are afraid that Khamzat would destroy you,” Till said about Nickal's performance on X.

Bo Nickal expresses his frustration with UFC commentators

That said, Till isn't the only one who thinks Nickal should stop talking about a potential fight against 'Borz', as the UFC commentary team of Jon Anik, Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier also advised that Nickal wouldn't be ready for that challenge.

However, that did not go down well with the American, who expressed his frustration with the criticism after a few days of discussing his performance.

“When I watched the fight back, the commentary and the way they looked at the fight was something that was a little disappointing, and it made me feel like they didn't really know what was going on,” Nickal said in a interview on The Ariel Helwani Show.

“To hear things like (Daniel Cormier) say, 'Oh, he's not ready for Khamzat yet,' and I think he was trying to be respectful, but also trying to like, I don't know, puts me on a pedestal, it It was just weird to hear,” he continued.

In his next outing, the 28-year-old will certainly hope to silence the recent doubters and finally secure a spot in the top 15 of the middleweight rankings.
