Arsenal target Luís Campos approached for Saudi Arabia role
Luís Campos is currently in talks to extend his stay at Paris Saint-Germain, but they are not the only ones interested in the services of the Portuguese sporting director.
Campos has led the new project at PSG as the reigning Ligue 1 champions, who are still dominant on the domestic stage, have turned away from the bling-bling era and instead focused on recruiting young players with high potential, while also integrating more players from the youth academy. .
However, Campos' future at Les Parisiens is uncertain. His contract runs until the end of the season and while there are discussions about an extension, according to L'Équipe there is no guarantee they will reach a positive conclusion. In the meantime, other projects are presented to him.
With Edu leaving Arsenal, Campos is one of the names on the Gunners' shortlist. After identifying Mikel Arteta as a management target in the summer of 2023, before ultimately hiring Luis Enrique, Campos maintains a good relationship with the former, according to RMC Sport. Names such as Thiago Scuro, Grégory Lorenzi, Tomas Rosicky and Per Mertesacker have all been linked with the soon-to-be vacant position at Arsenal.
However, as reported by RMC Sport and confirmed by Get French Football News, Campos has another proposal at his disposal. He has been approached by the Saudi Football Federation to become director of football in the Gulf state. It comes amid the growth of the Saudi Pro League, driven by heavy investment in recruitment, and the country's plans to host the World Cup in 2034.
Amid his negotiations with PSG, Campos may have a wealth of options at his disposal as he looks to determine his future.
