Jude Bellingham's rumored relationship with a Spanish pop star never materialized, according to a new report.
Last week, news circulated that the Real Madrid star may be in a relationship with singer Aitana, according to Spanish journalist Laura Roige in Marca.
Aitana, 25, shot to fame in 2017 when she came second in Spanish reality TV talent show Operación Triunfo. She then won Best Spanish Act at the 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards.
As Roige reported, Bellingham and Aitana started following each other on Instagram, and the Madrid stunner flooded her page with likes.
Aitana returned the compliment after taking a keen interest in Bellingham's activities on social media.
She has also been spotted at the Santiago Bernabeu several times to cheer on Bellingham and Co, leading to speculation that she was dating the attacking midfielder.
However, according to a new report in Marca, a relationship between Bellingham and Aitana never materialized.
Journalist Marisa Blazquez explained how the pair had been talking and flirting on social media but no progress was made due to the footballer's 'fears'.
She claimed that Aitana had suggested a meeting to get to know each other, but Bellingham was “very afraid” that they would be photographed together due to their respective high profiles.
Blazquez said, “It seems like he and Aitana started flirting on Instagram and the like, and at some point Aitana suggested to him, “Hey, let's meet up and get to know each other.”
“But he was very afraid that at some point, because they are both very famous, they would photograph him.”
Bellingham's fear of being seen together even came when Aitana suggested they meet at a restaurant for dinner – and after they realized nothing would happen, the pop star decided to leave themselves as friends.
“He was afraid of getting caught because he cares a lot about his professional career,” Blazquez added.
“And (he) didn't want to be the center of attention because she's super famous for her work, he didn't instigate that meeting.
“So she got bored and said 'well, look, boy', but nothing ever came of it.”
Bellingham, 21, was rumored to be dating Dutch model Laura Celia Valk in recent months after she was described as 'completely smitten' with the England international.
However, Valk confirmed last month that she was not dating Bellingham and is currently enjoying single life.
Meanwhile, Aitana previously had a high-profile relationship with Colombian singer Sebastian Yatra.
The couple began their romance in August 2023 but split a year later.
According to ABC newspaper, Yatra ended their relationship last August, just a few days before they were due to go on holiday together.
News of Bellingham's love life comes after the England star was part of Real, who were beaten 5-2 by arch-rivals Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final on Sunday evening.
Nevertheless, the midfielder still enjoyed an impressive season in Spain, with Bellingham scoring nine goals and providing seven assists in 24 games.
