Liverpool recall Kaide Gordon from loan spell

Liverpool have recalled Kaide Gordon from his loan spell at Norwich City as he continues to battle for game time.

The 20-year-old winger is highly rated but has found it difficult to find opportunities at Carrow Road. He started just once for the Championship team and made nine more appearances from the bench. As a result, Gordon will make a return to Anfield this week.

Liverpool's plan is to send the young winger straight back for the rest of the season. Several clubs in the Football League have expressed interest in signing Gordon in the coming months, the Athletic reports.

Gordon became the second-youngest goalscorer in the club's history when he scored against Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup in January 2022 at the age of 17, but since then his progress has stalled somewhat due to injury, but that is holding him back don't like to score a goal. Former Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders observed Gordon and was quickly blown away. He said: “I see one player who has fire every time he touches the ball. He passes players as if they were not even there. I called Jurgen straight away and said 'wow, we have a new player here'.”

“We take this player with us in the preparation and when do you know that you have a good player around you? Then the seniors start to take care of this young player.”

Gordon made the move to Liverpool while still at school, joining Premier League giants Derby County for a fee that could rise to £3.4 million in February 2021.

Arne Slot still has some decisions to make about his young stars before the month is over. Calvin Ramsay has been loaned out to Scottish Premier League club Kilmarnock for the rest of the season. Liverpool looked for the right club for him after deciding to bring him back from Wigan Athletic earlier this month. He started just three league matches for the Latics.

Jayden Danns, goalscorer in Liverpool's 4-0 thrashing of Accrington Stanley, is waiting to see what happens next. Slot was unsure about Danns' immediate future and said on Saturday: “The latter [going out on loan in January]I don't know that at the moment. It is for us [today] It was about giving the players who hadn't played that much playing time.”
