Jurgen Klopp insists he will not manage a Red Bull team after taking over as the group's head of global football, although the former Liverpool boss plans to play an active role.
Klopp called time on his hugely successful nine-year spell at Anfield last year, having won seven major trophies, including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and two EFL Cups.
The German claimed he had “run out of energy” when he announced his departure and said he would take a sabbatical before taking up a new coaching role.
However, in October, Red Bull appointed Klopp as head of global football on a four-year contract, with his role overseeing the strategy of RB Leipzig, Salzburg and New York Red Bulls.
Klopp held his introductory press conference on Tuesday and said he does not want to be a 'passenger' in his new job.
“This is pretty much what I wanted to do. I finished at Liverpool seven months ago. I did that consciously,” he said.
“A few months after that, the opportunity arose. I don't want to be a passenger or a prominent person in the room. I really want to put some value on it.
“I always wanted to try to learn new things and I immediately felt that this was exactly what I wanted to do. It's a different role.”

Klopp has been linked with several managerial positions including England and Barcelona after leaving Liverpool, but he says his new title will not lead to him coaching RB Leipzig.
“I didn't want to do that anymore. I wanted to make a fresh start and this is an opportunity to add value,” Klopp said.
“What it will look like… we'll see. There is no one plan that works for all our teams. We want to be the best we can be. In every department, in every club.”
“I will not be the coach of a Red Bull team. I am here as far as I can guarantee, but I am the only person who is asked where I will be in five, four years, three years.” no one knows.
“I will not be a club manager of Red Bull. I hope we create a structure in which these questions cannot be asked. That would be cool.”
