Barcelona forward Ansu Fati was given the chance to prove himself this season at the club he came through, but it seems Hansi Flick thinks he has had that chance. Fati has been left out of Barcelona's squad for the third time in a row after back-to-back Super Cup ties against Real Betis continued.
Flick admitted on Tuesday that he doesn't believe he has seen him at 100% since his injury and encouraged the 22-year-old to keep working like his teammates to get opportunities. However, it appears that a departure in January is planned.
According to Sport, Barcelona and those around Fati are increasing the pressure on him to leave on loan in January. His camp believes he would be much better off with a fresh start at a lower level so he can get regular playing time. There are those within his family who support his decision to stay in Barcelona, but after being left out of the Super Cup for youth player Toni Fernandez, Fati was deeply disappointed.
From Barcelona's point of view, not only do they agree that Fati would be better served if the match were played earlier, but the benefit to the Blaugrana is also clear: they could use the money saved from a move to to strengthen their selection.
Fati has reportedly decided not to move to Seville on loan this summer, but with relations between Los Nervionenses and Barcelona tense, that no longer seems possible. The Catalan giants have reportedly offered him to rivals Real Betis in recent weeks but have yet to receive a response. However, the message from Barcelona and Flick is clear: he must look for playing time elsewhere.
