Elche 0-4 Atletico: Sorloth scores brace as Atletico ease through in Copa

Atletico Madrid booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey with a comfortable 4-0 win over 10-man Elche.

They extended their winning streak to 15 games, the longest in their history, with Alexander Sorloth orchestrating Diego Simeone's men to a fast start.

The Norwegian opened the scoring in the eighth minute and scored Atletico's first goal in the Copa del Rey this season when he struck a loose ball from close range.

Shortly before the half hour mark he extended the lead. Bambo Diaby fouled Samuel Lino in the penalty area, and Sorloth made no mistake from twelve yards, sending the ball past Miguel San Roman.

Elche were reduced to ten men just five minutes into the second half when Nico Mercau was shown a second yellow card, this being a tactical foul on Rodrigo Riquelme.

The Spaniard would go on to score the first, hitting the back of the net with a brilliant long-range strike 11 minutes later, before Julian Alvarez, his replacement, rounded off the victory with a swift finish 15 minutes from time.
