Carragher to get Liverpool transfer dream as £50m star approached over move

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher could make his transfer wish come true after Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez is said to be in favor of a move to Anfield if he leaves the club.

The Reds are looking for a long-term successor for Andy Robertson, who is about to turn 31 and has been criticized for underperformance this season.

Kerkez, meanwhile, has had a stellar campaign for Bournemouth and has played a big role in the Cherries' top position in the league under boss Andoni Iraola.

The 21-year-old has one goal and three assists for Bournemouth, appearing in all 21 Premier League games so far, and it seems inevitable that he will join a top six in the near future.

Although Bournemouth are not keen to offload Kerkez in this window, the i Paper reports that Anfield would be the £50m-rated star's preferred destination if he were to leave the Vitality Stadium.

Liverpool's other option at left-back is Kostas Tsimikas, but Carragher does not believe he is a strong enough backup option. He says Kerkez would be a much better option after praising him as a “revelation” in December.

“We've just talked about Liverpool's left-back situation and the fact that Andy Robertson needs help. Now listen, he's been a revelation at Bournemouth. The only reason I'm mentioning Liverpool is the fact that they're probably looking for someone in that position, but also because the sporting director who brought him to Bournemouth is now sporting director at Liverpool.

“He's aggressive, he's got pace. Even when you look at him he looks like a full-back, small, very aggressive and focused on wingers on that side. He's been fantastic since he came to the Premier League for Bournemouth and it is one to watch.” for the future, whether he stays or goes.”

A move for Kerkez could gain momentum as Liverpool chief Richard Hughes was the man who signed the player for Bournemouth when he was at the South Coast club in 2023.

In addition to a new left-back, Carragher wants Liverpool to sign a new left-sided centre-back who can help in the position if necessary. Almost every top team has one, except their former team.

“Liverpool doesn't have a player that every other club has. He's a left-sided defender who can play as a centre-back or as a left-back. Arsenal have Calafiori, even United have Martinez, Chelsea have Colwill, City have Nathan Aké and Gvardiol. Even Tottenham have Van de Ven who can do something as a left back.

“If Liverpool sign that player in January – I don't have any names and nothing is linked to it – but I think if Liverpool did that I would be confident they would win the league.”
