Benjamin Sesko’s agent finally reveals truth behind Arsenal transfer rumours

Benjamin Sesko's agent admits there is no truth in the Slovenian joining Arsenal and laughed off suggestions of a move.

The RB Leipzig hitman has a host of top European clubs monitoring his situation after a rapid rise. Sesko currently plies his trade in Germany but is among a host of strikers linked with Arsenal, who are in need of a goalscorer of their own.

Mikel Arteta has chosen not to invest in a productive frontman, with Kai Havertz often leading the attacking line. But injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus have increased their need for new faces and Sesko has been linked, along with the likes of Alexander Isak.

There were reports that Arsenal would bring in Sesko on loan, which would raise many eyebrows. The player's agent, Elvis Basanovic, was unable to explain where that came from, without dialogue taking place with the north London team.

He told GiveMeSport: “I don't know where this story came from. I never spoke to Arsenal about loaning Sesko. Sesko is not a loaned out player, never a subject for Arsenal or any other club.”

When asked if the Leipzig striker has the quality to play for Arsenal, he told Slovenian TV channel Arena Sport: “I think you have to ask Mr. Arteta. But I think Sesko would join many clubs pass because he has different football skills. He can.” Playing alone in attack, with two attackers, a little further back, he has length, speed, technical speed.”

When Basanovic specifically asked if Arsenal had made any inquiries, he added: “I can't answer that question for you.”

His agent also confirmed that a future move will only be considered if it suits the player's development, which was considered a motive when he opted to join and extend his time at Leipzig, where several young players have blossomed.

Basanovic added: “Benjamin Sesko really shines, I think this is a development phase. I think we have already shown in the past that we stick to the development path, that we do not look at the current form. The next step, the transfer, never came from the current form, but neither will it come from who can offer Sesko the best platform for his development.”

Arteta admitted after their win over Tottenham on Wednesday night that they were actively looking to strengthen due to their current situation, with fans frustrated at the lack of a clinical finisher within the squad.
