Real Madrid quoted mammoth figure to soundproof Santiago Bernabeu amid concerts dispute
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez had portrayed the renovated Santiago Bernabeu stadium as a money machine and the 'engine' of the club's economy for decades to come. But for the past three months, that bike has sat idle in the garage while Los Blancos try to repair it.
A syndicate of residents has legally challenged Real Madrid for organizing concerts, complaining of intense noise pollution that exceeds municipal regulations, and Los Blancos have agreed to stop the concerts they organized until 2025 and commit to solutions find. The only thing that has been seriously considered is 'soundproofing' the Bernabeu so that concerts can take place. However, El Chiringuito say there will be a hefty bill involved, and could cost the club €20-25 million.
What's worse is that Real Madrid have no guarantees this will work. Soundproofing a stadium or concert hall of such a large size has yet to be carried out as most venues of that size are somewhat separated from residential buildings, while the Bernabeu is only meters away from some people's flats. This news also comes on the heels of a potentially costly lawsuit over the 'SkyBar' they hoped to open but haven't yet.
