According to Laura Fa and Lorena Vázquez, Cristina Serra wanted to part ways after the coach decided to renew at Manchester City.
The Catalan daily 'El Periódico de Catalunya' recently offered insight into why Pep Guardiola and Cristina Serra have finally gone their separate ways through journalists Laura Fa and Lorena Vázquez.
The breakup has received limited media attention and neither the Manchester City coach nor the businesswoman have offered interviews about their personal lives.
Fa and Vázquez claim that Serra had confronted Guardiola on a number of occasions over the Catalan coach's “obsession with everything surrounding his professional life”.
The couple spent the Christmas holidays together but things had taken a turn for the worse following Pep Guardiola's extension at Manchester City until June 2027.
The contract extension announcement is reportedly the final straw that led the businesswoman to end her marriage after ten years, with the couple also spending twenty years together. As things stand, El Periodico claims that Pep's post-City plans do not include a return to his native Catalonia with his idea of continuing his football career in the United Arab Emirates.
The report states that both individuals have 'left the door open for reconciliation' and claim this has been 'an amicable break without drama or arguments'.
El Periodico also claims that Guardiola and his wife had a LAT ('Living Apart Together') relationship. Both lived in separate houses, the 53-year-old coach in Manchester and Serra in Barcelona.
