MIKEL ARTETA says Arsenal are ready to push forward their summer transfer plans and get a deal done this month.
The Gunners are desperate for extra firepower in this window after serious injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus.
RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, 21, has been heavily linked with a move to Emirates over the past 12 months.
It is expected that Sesko will leave the German team this summer.
But Arsenal are considering whether to make a £70million move for the Slovenian or take out a short-term loan.
Boss Arteta said: “We have more urgency now because of what has happened in recent weeks.
“We never just plan a window. We have a plan, we look at the team, how we are going to develop it, what we have in the academy, how we are going to change and adapt.
“Either we are very bad at planning, or no one could see that we would have so many injuries.
“We have lost two big players on the front line and we need some support there.”
Saka underwent hamstring surgery before Christmas and will be out until March, while Jesus could miss the entire year with a cruciate ligament injury.
Sesko's agent Elvis Basanovic has admitted a January transfer is unlikely unless a big bid comes in, with Leipzig battling for a place in the Champions League.
Arteta added: “With every player you have to understand the context.
“Which player are you taking with you? What are the expectations? How is this player going to fit in that door?”
Meanwhile, Manchester United are said to be “hopeful” of winning the race for Viktor Gyokeres.
The Gunners have also been linked with Sporting Lisbon's Swedish hitman, 26, whose release clause is reportedly less than £100million.
