Real Madrid have two big full-backs in their sights for the start of the 2025/26 season: Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alphonso Davies. However, their chances of signing the latter appear to be on the brink after major developments took place in the past 48 hours.
According to The Athletic (via Relevo), Bayern Munich have once again submitted a new offer to Davies' representatives, and this is more in line with the contract demands set out by the Canadian defender. There is now a greater chance that he will stay in Bavaria.
With a four-year contract on the table, it is accepted that Real Madrid's chances of signing Davies are going up in smoke. Club bosses were confident the 24-year-old would join the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, but that now seems far from certain.
It remains to be seen how the Davies situation will develop, but if Real Madrid do miss out, it will be interesting to see if they tackle the left-back position in the summer given the problems they have faced there this season had.
