Carlo Ancelotti is under pressure this season, and even more so this week after Sunday's humiliating Spanish Super Cup defeat to Barcelona. It's even being reported that depending on the results, he could be fired in a few months, which would be quite a shock.
Luis Carrion, who faced Ancelotti as manager of Las Palmas earlier this season, has hit back at criticism of Real Madrid's head coach in recent weeks, according to Diario AS.
“That is the world of football. One day you seem the best and the next day the worst. He is one of the best coaches in the world, his titles back him up and I think the disparagement made of him when it is said that he is a simple aligner and/or a good manager is very poor. We should respect him much more. You can't go from white to black in one second.”
Carrion believes a lack of patience is a problem in football these days, stating that he also believes he has not been given enough time at Las Palmas, where he was manager for just three months.
“Well, this is common among coaches. We didn't get good results, the last match against Celta was bad and there was a break for the national team. Even though it was October, I understand that they thought it was a good time for a change, but it was a club that had been interested in signing me for a while and I think they lacked patience, yes.”
