Arsenal transfer news: Alexander Isak drops hint on future as star prices himself out of move

A weekend to quickly forget for Arsenal in the title race.

It looked like Mikel Arteta's men would get the chance to close the gap on Liverpool at the Premier League summit as the Reds struggled to find a way past a determined Brentford. But a quick-fire brace from substitute Darwin Nunez piled the pressure back on the Gunners, who let a two-goal lead slip against Aston Villa, falling further behind their title rivals.

There has been a lot of talk about Arsenal and the transfer window, but it remains to be seen whether they will splash the cash on a new striker. And time is now running out to close big deals.

Here, Mirror Football collects all the latest transfer news and gossip from the Emirates…

Isak speaks out

Alexander Isak may be at the top of Arsenal's wish list, but the sought-after Swedish international is having a great time at Newcastle.

Isak was in red-hot form ahead of Saturday's shock 4-1 defeat to Bournemouth. And although he drew a blank against the Cherries, his lethal finishing has attracted interest at The Emirates.

With Arsenal seemingly in dire need of a striker, a move for Isak is a necessary move. But not only would Newcastle demand a premium price for their talisman, the player himself has reiterated how happy he is at St James' Park.

He told TNT Sports on Saturday: “Everywhere in this city everyone loves Newcastle, that's special. It's the best feeling I've had in my career. Scoring goals in front of these fans, it's special.”

Jorginho's move is in danger

Jorginho's chances of joining Flamengo are now slim, apparently due to the demands made by the midfielder's agent.

The Italian star is out of contract at the end of the season and it remains to be seen where his future lies. There is interest from foreign clubs, including Flemengo.

However, O Dia says via Sport Witness that the wage demands of Jorginho and his agent are seen as 'out of reach' by the club, although a counter-offer has been made.

Gunmen prepare £10million attack

Arsenal are ready to try to sign Sverre Halseth Nypan THIS month.

The 18-year-old Norwegian prodigy is being chased by a host of elite clubs, including the Gunners and Manchester United.

Arsenal love the £10million star, whose breakthrough at such a young age has seen him compared to compatriot Martin Odegaard. And TV2 has confirmed that Arsenal are looking to complete a deal in January rather than the summer.
