Paddy Pimblett breaks his silence following viral fight in the gym where he wouldn’t let go of choke

Paddy 'The Baddy' Pimblett remains an extremely divisive figure in the sport of MMA and his recent antics outside the cage have caused quite a stir.

Since Paddy Pimblett joined the UFC in 2021, his name has continued to grow and he has become one of the biggest names in the sport.

Last July, 'The Baddy' picked up the biggest win of his career to date when he defeated Bobby Green in the first round of their UFC 304 fight, resulting in Pimblett moving up to a lightweight ranking.

Paddy Pimblett breaks his silence after a recent gym fight

The Brit is currently out of action and out of camp, waiting for his next fight to be booked. And in doing so, he has taken the opportunity to quell a feud with an old rival.

Pimblett and Oktagon MMA fighter Dennis Frimpong have been battling online for a while after Frimpong claimed he could knock out Pimblett.

The two then organized to fight at Frimpong's Manchester Top Team gym to finally settle their feud. They started fighting and Pimblett then strangled the Irishman after five minutes.

However, things became hectic when Pimblett refused to release the choke despite Frimpong tapping many times, leading to several spectators trying to pull Pimblett away.

The Brit has received a lot of criticism following the viral video, especially considering Frimpong has only had five professional fights and only recently turned pro.

Nevertheless, in an attempt to quell the criticism, Pimblett has broken his silence and provided some context around the fight.

“He agreed in advance not to tap. You stupid idiots who don't know what you're talking about, just don't talk if you don't know the context,” he started to explain.

“Not my fault, he tapped like a dog when he said he was going to KO me on the feet and got hit,” Pimblett continued.

What's next for Paddy Pimblett in the UFC?

Now that Pimblett has put his feud with Frimpong to rest outside the cage, he will likely look for an early return to the UFC Octagon this year.

The promotion recently announced that their return to London will take place on March 22 and the event will be headlined by Leon Edwards versus Jack Della Maddalena, with the card featuring Pimblett's teammate, Molly McCann.

'The Baddy' is always a shoe-in to fight at the London events, given his star power on that side of the pond. He has previously expressed his desire to fight Renato Moicano, who lost his UFC lightweight title fight against Islam Makhachev at UFC 311 last Saturday.

Pimblett is currently ranked 13th in the 155lb division and will be hopeful of cracking the top ten with his next fight.
