Arne Slot insists it is “way too early” to describe Liverpool as the best team in the world, despite the Reds sitting at the top of the Premier League and Champions League.
Liverpool are six points clear of the English top flight with a game in hand against second-placed Arsenal, while they have won all six of their games in Europe's premier club competition this season.
Brentford boss Thomas Frank said the Reds were the “best team in the world” after their 2-0 win at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday.
Although he is flattered by the comment, Slot believes it is premature and that his party still has a long way to go.
'I think it's way too early to say these things. We [are yet] to play against a lot of teams,” the Liverpool boss said. 'But it's always nice to get compliments from a manager who has proven himself in the Premier League.
“When we go out there we want to win a game. You would think like number one [in the Champions League table]it's the best position to finish in, but it's such a strange ranking.
“Every week, even when you face teams lower in the rankings, they are the most difficult team to face [because you have not faced them before]. You can't judge the table and say who is the best at the moment, we didn't do that [played] same teams.”

Liverpool put their 100% Champions League record on the line when they played Lille on Tuesday.
The Ligue 1 side have already defeated defending champions Real Madrid and their rivals Atletico Madrid in this season's competition as they arrive at Anfield unbeaten after 21 matches.
“They earned every point,” Slot added. “They haven't had any luck with the games and that's why I'm so impressed.”
