Real Valladolid centre-back Juma Bah appears to be on the move in the January transfer market, following reports that Premier League giants Manchester City have reached a verbal agreement to sign the defender.
Although the deal for the 18-year-old has not yet been completed, Fabrizio Romano reports that the deal will be formalized in the coming hours. The Sierra Leone talent was loaned from AIK Freetong to La Pucela this summer and has gradually worked his way into the starting line-up at Nuevo Jose Zorrilla.
Romano goes on to say that Bah could be loaned out immediately, with RC Lens a potential destination. The two clubs recently completed a deal for Real Madrid target Abdukodir Khusanov for around €50 million, and the Ligue side may believe Bah could be his replacement until at least the end of the season.
Bah has just passed the 1,000 minute mark with Valladolid, making 14 appearances this season and receiving two bookings. Of those fourteen appearances, eleven were starts, and all but one were in the Copa del Rey.
Newcastle United have been linked with Bah in recent weeks, and while the Italian transfer guru has not mentioned a potential fee, the aforementioned figures are in the region of €10-15 million. The imposing right-footed centre-back is blessed with the physical gifts to perform at the highest level and has been solid, if unspectacular, during his time in Spain so far. His pace and strength are particularly striking.
Valladolid manager Diego Cocca hopes reinforcements are on the way during the remainder of the transfer window. Ajax is in talks to sign their star striker Raul Moro for a fee of around ten million euros. Losing either would be a blow to Valladolid's hopes of surviving in La Liga.
