A Premier League winner looks to emerge to fight KSI following Wayne Bridge's decision to withdraw from the March fight.
Just two days after news of the shock match was announced, Bridge dramatically backed down, claiming the YouTube star 'crossed the line' with his taunts of the ex-Chelsea defender.
The social media sensation made a joke to Bridge after Misfits Boxing 20 on Saturday night about his ex-girlfriend's alleged affair with John Terry.
During an in-ring confrontation with Bridge, KSI said, “Aren't you the guy who made John Terry beat up your ex?” Bridge replied, “You want to go there right away, don't you?”
“I'm pretty sure that's what you're known for,” KSI added, before riling up the crowd and starting a chant that read, “Vanessa woah, Vanessa woah,” referring to Bridge's ex-girlfriend Vanessa Perroncel.
KSI went on to add X-rated words to his chant that directly referenced Terry and Bridge's former partner.
Former Leicester City defender Danny Simpson, who is believed to have been training with Bridge in recent times, appeared to throw his hat into the ring.
“No respect for the ballers. That's not possible @KSI [angry face and boxing glove emoji] @MamsTaylor @MisfitsBoxing.' he wrote on X.
The 38-year-old made his professional boxing debut in August when he took on Danny Aarons in Dublin.
Simpson had put his Premier League winner's medal on the line, while Aarons had staked his golden YouTube subscriber tag.
Simpson spoke to Mail Sport ahead of the fight as he recounted the whirlwind series of events that led him from the summer holidays to the boxing ring.
“Everything happens for a reason,” Simpson stated. Admitting he's had a carefree summer full of European Championship celebrations and bachelor parties,' he confessed: 'You know, you're having a good time, but are you really having a good time?'
A phone call from boxing promoter Mams Taylor presented Simpson – who won the Premier League with Leicester in 2016 – with a new challenge.
Simpson recalled, “At the time I was probably enjoying the summer a little bit. But now, for the past three or four weeks, this has been fun. Mom Taylor called me and asked me, do I think I could do this in four or five weeks? And I like challenges.'
